Uniform Innovation for Emergency Services on Show at AFAC25

The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) 2025 conference and exhibition brought together thousands of participants across fire, police, ambulance and emergency services at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 26–29 August.

As the independent, member-based organisation for emergency management in Australia and New Zealand, AFAC plays a vital role in strengthening capability and resilience. Each year, its annual gathering provides a platform for connection, collaboration and innovation — advancing the safety and resilience of communities.

Why AFAC Matters

The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council plays a vital role in keeping communities safe across Australia and New Zealand. At its heart, AFAC is about bringing people and organisations together — helping agencies learn from each other, share resources, and strengthen their capability.

Through its programs and initiatives — from coordinating national resource sharing, to supporting aerial firefighting and providing disaster resilience training — AFAC helps ensure emergency services have the knowledge, connections and tools they need to do their jobs. It’s this spirit of collaboration and shared purpose that makes AFAC such an important part of the sector.

Our Presence at AFAC25

We have been attending for over 20 years. This year, our team of Sales, Design and Product specialists brought to life our most compelling stand to date. We showcased:

  • Firefighting PPE and footwear engineered for protection in extreme conditions.
  • Industry-first women’s fits, developed in partnership with VIC SES, Defence and VIC Police.

Team Perspective

Last year we showcased innovation, this year we put on display the uniforms that we have created, showing how that innovation was incorporated in our designs and fabrics to meet the needs of our existing customers.  As Martin Walker, Business Development Manager at Workwear Group Uniforms, reflected:

“AFAC25 was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our modern new stand and the depth of our uniform solutions. We connected with key stakeholders including Treasury & Finance WA, CFA, FRV, DFES, SES and Queensland Parks and Wildlife, strengthening our relationships across the sector. The unveiling of the new VICSES operational range and our ever-popular KingGee sock giveaway were standout highlights. Being in Perth, the home of Wesfarmers, added an extra layer of connection and relevance.”

Martin’s reflections highlight the true value of AFAC25 — the chance to engage directly with those working in fire and emergency situations, share our innovations, and build stronger connections across the emergency services community.

Reflections

AFAC25 highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation in advancing the safety and resilience of our communities. For Workwear Group Uniforms, it was an opportunity to connect with emergency service professionals and decision-makers, and to showcase solutions that prioritise safety, comfort and sustainability.

Most importantly, AFAC is about people. We remain deeply appreciative of the fire, police, ambulance and emergency service professionals who dedicate themselves to protecting our communities every day. Supporting you with uniforms that are truly fit for purpose is both our responsibility and our privilege.
